Employer Engagement

The remit for the Employer Engagement Group has been reviewed to reflect its role in overseeing the pilot employer programme approach described above as well as the priorities identified in Opportunities Fife Action Plan 2010-12. The combined remit is as follows:

 

• Develop an Opportunities Fife ‘employer offer’ and work proactively with employers to create employment pathways for key client groups
• Commission skills review to inform Fife’s future skills needs for renewables and other known growth sectors
• Capitalise on training and employment opportunities afforded by major capital projects such as second Forth crossing, CVF Aircraft and key growth sectors including renewables, tourism, retail, care and sustainable construction
• Work proactively with public and voluntary sector agencies as significant providers of transitional employment opportunities for target client groups
• Ensure procurement practice across public sector deliver additional community benefits that build upon best practice
• Deliver a responsive redundancy support service through PACE
• Introduce measures to increase job sustainability and increased retention levels including measures to tackle in-work poverty
• Support Fife Culture of Enterprise Framework and promote entrepreneurship 
• Work with employers and NHS Fife to deliver the local recommendations set out in ‘Health Works’
• Provide the decision making function and promote the overall strategic aims of the employer programme within Fife
• Liaise with partners and businesses where necessary to overcome issues / barriers and ensure employer programme is complementary
• Identify and direct the implementation of agreed sustainability strategy beyond the pilot phase of the employer programme
• Ensure resources are effectively allocated to maximise the benefit to Fife communities.
