|
Opportunities Fife hosted an informative and stimulating event to discuss the impact of Welfare Reform and help shape future employment policies for Fife. The conference, at the Vine Venue in Dunfermline on Tuesday 22 February 2011, was opened by Cllr. Peter Grant, Leader of Fife Council Administration. It was attended by nearly 200 delegates from a wide range of agencies including colleges and training providers, employers, Jobcentre Plus, voluntary organisations, NHS Fife, Skills Development Scotland and Fife Council. The event examined ways to better help and support Fife’s unemployed and encourage growth in employment opportunities through better dialogue with employers.
Speakers Will Hutton of The Work Foundation and Frances Wood from the Scottish Government highlighted how national developments such as Welfare Reform impact at a local level and explored the role of employability in tackling poverty.
