Foundation Apprenticeships

What is a Foundation Apprenticeship?

As a school pupil, a Foundation Apprenticeship gives you early exposure to the world of work, helping you to develop the skills, experience, and knowledge you’ll need when you leave school.

For you, it’s the chance to get a head start on your career by gaining an industry-recognised qualification, work on real projects and broaden your career options.

Fife Council and Fife College are working in partnership to ensure that Fife Secondary school pupils benefit from a fantastic, full range of Foundation Apprenticeships.

Introduction to Foundation Apprenticeships

This is a course aimed at S5 and S6 pupils typically but some frameworks are suitable for S4.  Some of our frameworks can be done in a two year course and also there are frameworks that can be done within the one year option. This Course is offered to school pupils only at no cost. The course will be timetabled into your school timetable for two afternoons per week. One afternoon you will go out on placement and the other afternoon you will be in a classroom setting.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have not only gained a qualification SCQF Level 6, but valuable workplace skills and experience.
